  • Abused Elkhart woman finds freedom though new program

    Ana* is a 22-year-old mother. She's Mexican and doesn't speak English. She is also a domestic abuse survivor.

  • UPDATE: Third suspect now in custody for death of five-year-old boy at Michigan City day care

    UPDATE: According to LaPorte County Jail records, Erica Merriweather, 25, is now in custody. She was booked shortly before noon Tuesday. Merriweather is charged with Reckless Homicide and Involuntary Manslaughter.

  • Governor Pence writes letter to President about immigrant children

    Governor Mike Pence is asking that more than 200 immigrant children placed in Indiana be deported. The governor wrote a letter to the president, asking the federal government to quickly resolve the border crisis and give information to states in more timely manner.   • Boy scout finds marijuana plants in city park

    Will Kercher was working on removing invasive plants in Abshire Park Monday morningwhen he came across a different kind of "invasive" species...marijuana plants. Kercher, seventeen, was taking before pictures ofa wooded area in thepark. He was documenting the area before he helped clear it of bush honeysuckle when he came across four potted marijuana plants. He took a picture and then went to tellAaron Sawatsy-Kingsley, Goshen's City Forester.

  • Elkhart Police need your help finding a possible intruder

    This past Saturday, police received a call from a female living on the 1000 Block of N. Michigan Street in Elkhart. She was woken up by a noise in her home. She then located an intruder who she described as a white man between the ages of 22 and 38. She says he was 5'6" to 6 feet tall and 150 to 190 pounds. Police say she confronted the subject and struck him several times with her hands and arms. She then struck the intruder in the head with an object.
