“We Give” Spring Celebration

The City of Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department and Pillars of Elkhart are teaming up to bring you the “We Give” Spring Celebration on Saturday, April 28th from 11:00am to 4:00pm in Central Park Downtown Elkhart. This event will be kicking off with a 5K run and 1.5 mile family fun walk at 11:00am and continue with live performances from BAD Entertainment, Heartland County Cloggers, Magician Steve Vaught, Pyrotation Nation and Urban Renewal, as well as all day games, crafts, vendors and rock climbing and joisting from the National Guard. Get a team together and enter the Tug-of-War, Cornhole Tournament, or Bed Races. Proceeds from “We Give” Spring Celebration benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Elkhart County, Santa’s Pantry and the Elkhart County Women’s Shelter. The City of Elkhart has held a spring event for the past three years, but this year the mission has changed. The focus of the “We Give” Spring Celebration is to encourage the citizens of Elkhart to get involved and give back to their local community. This unique event incorporates family activities for children of all ages and an avenue for not-for-profits to share the mission of their agency. “We are very excited about holding an event that benefits the community locally. With the wide variety of activities, this is truly a great way to celebrate spring,” says event organizer Angela Bell from Big Brothers Big Sisters. “We encourage attendants to register for the races and competitions to help Elkhart Give Back.” Event participants are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items, new or gently used linens, eye glasses and hearing aids that will distributed to local not-for-profits.
