East Race Challenge



Race for the Golden Oar! This will be a single elimination tournament in 4 person rafts racing down The East Race in South Bend. Two teams will go head to head with the winner moving on in the tournament. This process will continue until one team is crowned the winner. The cost of entering U93’s “In The River 2018” is $100 per 4 person boat with 100% of the proceeds benefitting The Ronald McDonald House Charity of Michiana and Venue Parks and Arts Youth Scholarship Fund. This event is limited to 30 (4 person) teams.

Thanks to Venue Parks and Arts your team can also go down the East Race again for fun later in the day at no additional cost!

The Tournament will take place on Saturday August 25th. All teams participating are expected to be at Seitz Park/The East Race ( 126 N Niles Ave, South Bend) no later than 10:30am for check in and safety meeting with an official start time set at 11am.








  • There is no age limit for participants, however they MUST be at least 54" in height. 
  • Rubber soled shoes with heel strap are required.
  • Flip Flops and sharp jewelry/objects are not permitted.
  • All equipment is provided.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the raft.
  • The East Race runs at a Class 2 rafting and is 1900 feet. (Class 2: Some rough water, maybe some rocks, small drops, might require maneuvering.)
  • It is recommended you bring an extra set of clothes and towels - you will get wet! Note: There are no changing rooms, but a handicap accessible restroom facility is available along with an outdoor rinse shower.
